My elderly cat had a seizure. What should I feed him? Is this normal?

My elderly cat had, what is believed to be, a severe seizure last night. He was taken to the vet, and given phenobarbital, and Valium. I was sent home with the same. Since then he, of course is pretty out of it, but when he wakes up, eats and drinks, he will have another small seizure. Is there anything I shouldn’t be feeding him, is this condition normal considering the circumstance? Really, any information that can help me better take care of him would be appreciated! It can take 7-10days after a seizure for everything to return towards normal and some mild twitching/seixure activity is not uncommon. There are specific diets which have some anecdotal evidence and a high protein high fat diet such as hills m/d would be worthwhile considering.
