Should I free feed or measure food for my 2-3 month old kitten?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 18 days old | 1.12 lbs

How much food should you feed 2-3 month-old kitten? From sources around the internet, you should schedule when and how much. However, my vet said that you should not measure it, just feed them whenever they ask for it. Which one is true? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pocky. At this age, it is fine to free feed him. By 4-5 months though you will need to start measuring his food. He can still eat when he wants as cats prefer to graze throughout the day. You will just need to be aware of how much he is consuming to prevent him from becoming overweight. I hope this information helps!
