Why is my dog tripping and struggling to walk after kennel stay?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 78.8 lbs

He’s been in bording kennels for the last 6 months I made an unscheduled visit to pick him up as I was back early and couldn’t get through to his Supposed carer she had him in a tiny cage that he couldn’t stand up in covered in his own feaces god knows how long he’s been this way I’ve taken him home and bathed him but I’ve noticed that he can’t walk properly like he keeps tripping over his own feet like he isn’t pickin up his feet properly what could be wrong

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor guy! I am so sorry to hear this. There are plenty of possibilities that could be causing this including neurological disease or orthopedic disease. This could certainly be related to him being in those conditions for a long time or perhaps is unrelated. This could even be due to weakness from dehydration or malnutrition. However, I do think that this warrants a veterinary evaluation as soon as possible to try to determine what may be going on. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly.
