Why is my old dog suddenly losing use of one side and falling over?

My 14 yr old Chi has "spells" where she will suddenly and with no causal incidents, suddenly lose all use of one side of her body. She will try to move, but falls over. Eyes are normal and she doesn't appear to be in pain. Stroke? Seizure? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 12 lbs
