Pet's info: Dog | Schnoodle | Male | neutered | 9 years old | 20 lbs
My dogs nose smells like cardboard which is not usually normal for him. Is that a reason to take him to the vet? And if not then how might have that happened to him.

If you feel your dog's nose has a bad/foul odor, that could be a sign of respiratory infection or a dental infection, and would be a reason to visit his veterinarian. It is possible he could have a different scent from something he came into contact with outside or in your home, or from a new food/treat. Some people can smell ketones when animals may be sick or in a diabetic crisis (not all people can detect this scent) which is described as a chemical smell or a fruity smell. If your dog has had any alteration in appetite/water intake/energy level/urinary habits a vet visit is recommended.
