My dog is acting weird, not walking, head tilted, jumping, and throwing up?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 13 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs

My dog came outside and started acting weird, not walking right, moving her head in a weird position and would jump at loud sounds or anything getting near her face. She then threw up and now is laying down but keeps jumping and waking herself up. What should I do?

I’m wondering if Kiki might be showing signs of vestibular disease, a disease that affects the nerves of he inner ear in dogs and can occur suddenly. It may also cause nausea. Ingestion of a toxin or other neurologic disease could also cause difficulty walking and unusual behavior. I would recommend seeing your vet for an exam - vestibular disease is usually diagnosed based on a physical exam.
