Why is my dog suddenly acting scared, jumpy, and running from nothing?

Hello, My dog is acting strange all of a sudden, like something is chasing him and he is running away but there is nothing in the room. He seems scared, jumpy and upset. He was sitting and just jumped out of nowhere and started walking around the room upset.. what could it be? Thanks. Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 11 lbs

It could be lots of things, a sound only Miki can hear, itching from fleas or allergies, pain, etc. If this behavior continues in 24 hours, it is a good idea to have him examined by a vet for any possible medical causes.
