Will Interceptor Plus protect my dogs from worms from a puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 1 year and 8 months old | 12 lbs

My sister has a puppy that has repeatedly been treated for worms. We believe he could still have them. Unfortunately, my dogs will be around this puppy this weekend. We aren’t letting them eat/drink from same bowls or go to the bathroom in the same area. Also, both my dogs were given interceptor plus a few days ago. Will this prevent them from picking up worms?

Intestinal parasites are spread in the feces of infected animals so as long as you sister is picking up after her dogs your dogs should be fine. Also, since your dogs are receiving a monthly heartworm preventative they will be protected from any infestation. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
