My dog hit her head. She seems fine now, but should I be worried?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs

My 3lb yorkie jumped out of my arms in our parking garage and hit her head on the cement. She was whimpering and had her eyes partly closed for a couple minutes after. Once I brought her inside she wasn’t as playful as usual and kind of just wanted to lay with me. I had to have my sister watch her while I went to an appointment and she says Daisy is acting fine but I’m still worried. I felt her all over after it happened and she didn’t act like anything hurt and she’s walking fine.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. If Daisy is acting normal and is not showing any abnormal symptoms, then I would continue to monitor her for now. If she still seems depressed / lethargic, then I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
