Can my cat get parvo if I touched an infected dog and washed my hands?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 5 months old

I touched a dog today that liked my hand that had parvo virus week ago, which i found out latter by the owner. I washed my hands couple of times with soap, until i got home. At home i washed them again with soap. I am afraid that my cat could get parvo virus from the saliva of the dog, because i did not used bleach based soap. Can she get the virus in this case?

If your cat is vaccinated, it is highly unlikely that she would contract parvovirus. Washing your hands several times also will greatly decrease risk of spread. It is likely there is no cause for concern.
