My dog sniffed a dead animal on a walk. Should I be worried?

Hello! We have PetPlan insurance, policy WAG6073657-01). I was taking my dog for a walk today and noticed that he sniffed at a dead animal. It was small; I'm not sure what it was. I pulled him away pretty quickly, and he didn't put it in his mouth. He is up to date on all of his shots. Is there any reason to be concerned about this? Thank you!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would not be concerned by this! Dogs unfortunately love to sniff (and even lick or eat) other dead animals, so it was great that you were able to act quickly and keep Jordy from eating whatever that was. It sounds like you keep him up to date on all of his vaccines, which is excellent. As long as he continues to act normally (eating, drinking, urinating and defecating normally), and is otherwise healthy, I would not be concerned. I hope this is helpful!
