My young cat is pregnant. Is a small vulva normal for delivery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Bobtail | Female | unspayed

My cat isn’t even one years old yet and she has been pregnant for about three months. I’m worried she won’t be able to deliever them on her own because her hole is still kinda small. Is that normal?

Size of the opening of the vulva is not an indication of how well she will be able to deliver her kittens. Usually there will be no problem, as hormones will soften all the tissue involved and make it stretchy, so unless the kittens lie across the opening of the pelvis, your kitty should have no problem delivering her babies. Gestation time for cats on average is 63 days, a little over two months. Her nipples would be very pink now and she should be having her kittens soon.
