Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | unneutered

My male dog has a red rash on one side around his penis area it is also swollen. And has greenish discharhe coming from his penis he is peeing and acting normal. Just when i try to touch it he is in pain. I think its bug bite ive been cleaning the area with an antiseptic solutione providone and applying hydrocortisone 0.5% for dogs on that area hes had it for 2 days. I want to know if i should be worried and if i should still continue the treatment

I am sorry to hear about your dog! I would recommend bringing him in for an examination by a veterinarian given your description and this photo. We could have something like an abscess or cellulitis developing if the area is swollen and bruised, and the penis itself should be examined. We can also get infections inside the prepuce (the sheath of skin covering the penis) that may require antibiotics and it sounds like he could benefit from pain medication as well.
