Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 11 lbs
Why does my cat want to be held every time I use the restroom? He normally is very solitary and only allows me to pet and hold him for a few seconds at a time, but whenever I’m using the restroom he jumps in my arms and purrs and wants to be held the entire time.

This sounds like a behavior he has developed. This will not hurt him but if you want to stop the behavior, I would recommend keeping the bathroom door closed at all times so that he does not follow you into the bathroom. If he becomes too persistent, then I would recommend using a can filled with coins and just lightly shake it in your hand to startle him and say "off!" when he attempts to jump up on you. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
