Why is my juvenile leopard gecko throwing up food and losing weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My juvenile leopard geckos will try to eat its food but pukes it up shortly after. Bought him from pet smart 3 and a half weeks ago, they did not know the age or gender. But he was fine until this week. He's been throwing up past 4 days. Once before he shed, and the two days after. He wants to eat but ends up throwing up!? He's been losing weight.

Vomiting is not normal in reptiles. Loki should be physically examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. An x-ray maybe necessary to diagnose an obstruction or impaction. Get some Fluker's Repta-Boost at the local Petco. Offer it to get some nutrition into him. Soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte for 20-30 minutes. Gently massage the abdomen, front to back, during the soak to stimulate defecation.
