Why is my dog bleeding after ovary removal? Can she get pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | 50 lbs

I sent my two bitchs to the Overy Remover operation during her hit but when she returned, even though she was removing her overy they are ready for the meeting, so is there any chance to get her pregnant or something else? And if overy was remove why she is still bleed? Kindly advice.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If your Vet only removed the ovaries then she still has a uterus and that is where the blood comes from. After this heat she will no longer have them because the ovaries are gone and they provide the hormonal influence. If an intact male dog mated with her after the surgery I do not think she will get pregnant as the ovary makes the eggs. I hope this helps!
