Where do rats go when their home is suddenly demolished or disturbed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Where could an entire colony of rats disappear too? Rats where in one of my annexes so I demolished it after it was demolished you could still see the rats scurrying around at night but now all the rubble has been cleared and there aren’t any rats to be seen the ground is also being dug up due to a burst water pipe still no rats do u think they moved somewhere else I really hope so

They likely moved somewhere else as there was too much commotion and you basically took away their shelter. They may not have moved far, though. Rats do like to have a cushy warm home, so if the home is gone they will move on to the next one..
