My cat ate fish cooked with coconut milk. Is it safe for cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi my grandma gave our cat, Miwi, our food which is fish that was cooked with coconut milk. Google says that coconut milk is harmful to cats, what should I do? My grandma said it wasn't that much and she didn't include the actual coconut milk sauce itself idk how to call it in english and that she just fed the fish. Will there be bad effects?

If it was just a very small amount of coconut milk, then your cat will likely be ok. Tell your grandma to wash off the coconut milk next time before feeding the fish to your cat as it can cause digestive problems and pancreatitis in a cat.
