My cat is scared by loud noises, biting, and scattering litter.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 months and 13 days old | 7.94 lbs

Recently, the renovation work is in progress at my home, due to the loud noises of tile cutting machine, Coco gets scared. Now-a-days, she cosumes a little amount of food though weighs normal as per age. Since the start she has developed a bad habit of biting everyone, we tried everything to cease this habit, have given enough toys to play, we don't even play using fingers or hands & now she has developed another habit of scattering the litter sand out of the box!? Why & how to stop this?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It sounds like the renovations could be causing Coco stress. Move her to the quietest area you can. Correct her firstly when she tries to bite and spend lots of time playing with toys that allow her to pounce and bite. Consider pheromone therapy like Feliway if available. It may not get better until the construction has stopped. As for the kicking the sand in the litterbox, my cat still does this at 15 months of age and I have no good advice for you other than placing a towel under the litter box for easy clean-up! Best wishes to you and Coco!
