Why is my female cat bleeding with strange fluid? Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 6 lbs

My cat is bleeding for past 2 days. On first day her bleeding was continuous, runny & followed by some yellowish green mucus. 2nd day she bled little but it was thick and dark red. Today her bleeding is little and runny. This is 3rd that she is bleeding like this. This happen once in every 2-3 months and her bleeding stops after 3-4 days. She's behaving like a human kid, very tender and loving. Also her nipples are bright pink and she's continuously cleaning them. Her health is in good condition

I would be extremely concerned that Max has a pyometra, which is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Cats do not bleed when they are in heat, and this is not normal. This is something that needs to be checked out by a vet immediately, please bring her into one now. Best of luck.
