Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | 4 years and 2 months old

Hi my cocker spaniel is pregnant 51 days and she started to squeak. Im a bit worried if its natural and if she wont be giving birth earlier. If so are there any chances that puppies will survive

Average gestation is 63 to 65 days, however puppies can be full term and born anywhere between 58 and 68 days. So she will give birth within the next 10 to 14 days or so. The squeaking may be normal, as now the puppies are growing rapidly and it just may be a bit uncomfortable for her. She will start building a nest when she is close to giving birth. If you are worried about her and think that the squeaking may be a sign of her giving birth before day 58, or that she may be ill, take her to your vet for an exam to make sure everything is ok. Premature puppies have a hard time surviving.
