Why is my cat sneezing, hoarse, and not eating? Did she catch my cold?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 years and 5 months old | 9 lbs

Hi, my kitty, Buttercup, has come into my room for a little bit. She came yesterday afternoon. Her meows suddenly seem very hoarse, and she is frequently sneezing. She has gone to the bathroom and drank water, but she hasn’t eaten much. There is no discharge from her nose or eyes. I have a cold, and she slept with me last night. Is it possible she caught it?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Butter cup. I'm sorry to hear that she isn't feeling well. She likely has an upper respiratory infection with her sneezing and decreased appetite. I would recommend that she sees her veterinarian to confirm this and determine if she needs medication. It is unlikely that she acquired it from you. I hope this information helps!
