My dog ate a chicken bone, now vomiting blood and panting. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 18 days old | 15 lbs

Coop had a very high respiratory rate and heart rate last night and panting a lot. I’ve woken up to him throwing up four times since last night. He has thrown up what looks like a chicken bone. The most recent time his throw up looked mostly like blood.

I am so sorry to hear that Cooper is so sick! I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian immediately. It is possible that chicken bone ingestion could cause these symptoms but I also worry about parvovirus at his age. Regardless of the underlying problem he is in need of veterinary care. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
