Dog's doxycycline dose late. Can I adjust her schedule for sleep?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | unspayed | 6 years old | 45 lbs

I missed my dogs dose for doxycycline and gave it to her 3 hours late. It says 12 hours apart but I was wondering if it would be ok to give one dose 10 hours apart so I can keep her on her schedule because I can't stay up til 2 every morning till give her her medicine

It is normally fine to adjust the dosing schedule by two hours or so as needed. However, I legally cannot reccomend a change in medication, without having established a client-doctor relationship with you. I will have to refer you to your vet to answer this question. They should be happy to answer a quick question like this if you give them a call. I hope that helps and all is well with Dixie.
