Why is my male dog excessively licking and dripping yellow urine?

My male malamute Is 6 years old there is excessive licking of his penis and he appears to drip urine which is very yellow Please advise Thank you Lenette Ross

Poor Ice! This excessive licking of his penis and the dripping of urine can be a sing of a medical problem such as a UTI or bladder stones. I recommend taking him into a vet today for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and then can discuss treatment options with you. Good luck, I hope this helps!

He could possibly have a urinary tract infection that itches or burns and causing him to lick himself. I recommend getting him in to see your vet for an exam and urinalysis to determine if he has a UTI and how best to treat it. He's very young to have urinary stones, but it's not unheard of, so getting him seen by your vet is the best course of action.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco and I’m sorry to hear Scrappy isn’t feeling well. A urinary tract infection, bladder stones, bladder cancer, prostate infection or cancer, and kidney disease add all possibilities for blood from the penis. I recommend taking him to a vet for an exam and tests. I would start with routine blood work, a urinalysis and abdominal radiographs. The vet can also check his prostate on exam. These tests will give a lot of information to determine what’s going on. Hopefully it’s something not severe and easy to treat. Good luck and kisses to Scrappy!

Panda certainly could have a urinary problem, although things like UTI's (which are a common urinary problem) are a bit unusual in male dogs. I tend to see more male dogs, especially the unneutered ones, with things like foreign objects lodged in the prepuce (the skin around the penis) which ultimately leads to infection. Grass awns (the seed heads) can do this. If Panda continues to lick at his genitals (I'm assuming you mean his penis) then he needs to be examined by his vet, as getting a good look at this area can be difficult. A urinalysis can be performed to look for a urinary tract infection as well.

Hello, my dog has a tan discharge coming out of his penis that is pretty stinky. He is also constantly licking it. Would that indicate a UTI?
Usually penile discharge is due to an infection of the penile tissue itself known as balanitis. His constant licking will be leading to more inflammation. Your vet should be able to treat this easily with antibiotics and it would be good to have him wear a cone to stop the licking whilst it heals.

This much discharge is not normal. A little is, but not as much as you describe. Especially if this is a new problem I would be a bit worried. Did your vet actually check inside the prepuce (the sheath covering the penis) and/or flush it? There could be a piece of grass or something in there that is causing the discharge. You will need to allow your vet to do a very thorough exam of the prepuce and maybe do some testing to get this figured out. My dog won’t stop licking his penis and I don’t exacrly know why. Looks somewhat bloody and yellowish
His penis looks inflamed, possibly infected, you will need to take him to the vet to get it checked, he will need to wear an e-collar in order to prevent from him to continue licking his penis and getting it worse, he will also need an antibiotic course.

Causes of licking the prepuce/penis area could be a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, or trauma to the area. It is important that you make an appointment to have Mako seen by your veterinarian as soon as you can to help determine the cause of his behaviour and to start treatment. If you notice him straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and he should be seen by a vet immediately. I recommend you put an e-collar (cone) on him to help prevent him from biting/licking at the area as this may help reduce the risk of infection

It sounds like he may have either hurt his penis or he cannot pee. If he keeps licking it and or acts like it hurts, you should have a vet examine the penis. Unfortunately only a hands-on exam will reveal what is wrong.

Without pictures it is difficult to say what this is for sure. This could be smegma, which is the normal yellow discharge that is seen coming from a male dog's prepuce, which is a natural lubricant for the penis inside the prepuce. If it is not liquid at the prepuce you are seeing and a pustule, this could be infectious. If you could provide photos and post again it may help determine what this is exactly. Otherwise, a veterinarian should take a look at this so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! We picked up a male stray he extremely skinny and I've noticed that he's been dripping blood from his penis . What could he have? The camera quality is bad but it is definitely blood I've also noticed it on my floors
It is hard to see from the picture, but if it is blood coming from the penis I would be concerned about a urinary tract infection and/or bladder stones. Since you just found him it would be a good idea to take him to the vet to get checked out anyways, and you can bring a samppe of his urine so they can check it for infection. If he does have a bladder infection it can be treated with antibiotics. If he has bladder stones, often times these need to be removed by surgery.
