My kitten has a bloated belly and hasn't pooped. What should I do?

Pur kitten has a bloated stomach and we have been rubbing his sides and his privates to help him poop. He has been peeing fine but he has not pooped since this morning. He pooped a tiny bit, like half of a pinky finger nail. What should I do?

I would recommend an immediate check up to determine the underlying cause of the swelling. Gastrointestinal parasites are common but other causes like feline peritonitis infection can be present as well.     These signs could be compatible with an inflammation infection of the gastrointestinal system (the anus may be inflamed due to diarrhoea) probably caused by parasites. I have a new 9 week old kitten. We have had her for twelve weeks and her stomach seems to be bloated. She has literally no other symptoms at all. Her stool is slight soft but by no means diarea. We are worried it could be FIP. Is there anything else
More clinical signs and details are needed to determine the underlying cause, including details of the tests your vet have performed. When there is a suspcion of FIP, the underlying cause of the bloat (fluid, organ enlargement and so on) should be determine first, then if there is fluid inside her abdomen this should be ideally sampled and tested. Gastrointestinal worms should be rule out as they are commonly a possible cause of bloat in young kittens. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Fiorre Flamma! I recommend that she be seen by a Vet as soon as possible due to the heavy breathing. She looks pretty sick in your pictures. Possible causes of a bloated stomach in a kitten are: intestinal parasites, constipation, and feline infectious peritonitis. All of these things are treated differently and have different outcomes. The best thing for Fiorre is to see a Vet for an exam and testing. I hope this helps and I wish Fiorre a speedy recovery!

My kitten have swollen belly , vet said that its because of many feaces in the stomach , also my kitten has fever and his nerve has problem so he unable to stand or barely move so i have to feed him food , is there any way to stimulate my kitten to p
Hello, sorry to hear about Budi. You may gently wipe his rear with a warm cloth to stimulate him to defecate. However, Im concerned that Budi may have something else going on such as FIP, a heavy burden of parasites, or even a viral infection. I would recommend having him re-evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible as he may need emergency care to relieve has abdominal distention. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I rescued a kitten from a girl who got them off them off the park he’s had a bloated tummy hasn’t pooped and only peed once in 2 days idk if that’s bad
As a kitten, worms are a common cause of a bloated abdomen. You can get a dewormers at a vet or over the counter at a pet store. The lack of bowel mocmenenta may be from the food. If he is eating well and acting normally you can add canned food as thisbhas more water content to help. If not eating and seems painful or straining to go then you may need to see a vet for a stool softener

Presence of gastrointestinal parasites is likely but the reason of the abdominal enlarged should be ideally investigated asap. That could be caused by an accumulation of fluids in the abdominal cavity caused by FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). A check up and single radiograph (or sometimes only clinical examination) could confirm this clinical suspicion and give you treatment options. Unfortunately the prognosis for this disease is poor. Differential diagnosis could be represented by parasite infestation. Hi I found a 3 week old kitten & I have been bottle feeding her PetLac Powdered Formula , she is now 5 weeks old & I Starting in A Little Bit Of Wet kitten food with her formula at 4 weeks, she has had diarreha & a swollen Anus for about a week now,
My biggest immediate concern would be for intestinal parasites. Most kittens have them, and if she hasn't seen a vet yet and been dewormed, she needs to. She's suffering pretty significant fluid losses for a tiny creature. Make an appointment tomorrow, and bring a stool sample with you, so that the type of parasite can be determined and appropriate treatment started.

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. Kittens often seem to have bloated bellies. Sometimes it is just their immature anatomy, sometimes it is internal parasites, especially roundworms. If she is eating a wet kitten food, she is probably getting a fair amount of liquid every day. You usually will not see such a young kitten drinking water consistently. It would be a good idea to take the kitten to your veterinarian for a fecal analysis & proper health check. They will determine what, if any worms the kitten has, & administer the proper medication. My two months kitten didn't poop since 24 hours but eats normally and urinates regurally .She has a big belly btw
If she is straining and attempting produce stool but is unable, or if she is vomiting I think you should see a veterinarian. Constipation is rare in a kitten that age but is possible. Your vet can check for parasites and potentially give an enema to help her pass stool. If she is not straining or vomiting I think you could also monitor her for another couple of days but if she hasn’t pooped in three days you should see your vet.
