My dog's popped cyst: Should I cover the wound or leave it alone?

My dog had a big pimple/zit/cyst on his back. It popped and the remaining pus was squeezed out. He now had a small hole/wound where the growth was. The bleeding is very minimal. Shoukd I put gauze on it and leave it on overnight? Or should I leave it alone, I’m scared it might get infected or worse. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 75 lbs

You can leave it open like this, it will likely heal on its own. However, over time it will probably fill again, if it was a cyst. If this happens you may have to have it removed. Do not put ointment on it, generally leave it alone. It may be a good idea to cut away the hair around it to avoid hair to get into the wound.
