What's causing my dog's red, bleeding rash and pink spots on her neck?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | spayed | 1 year and 7 months old | 53 lbs

My dog has a red rash on her neck, and it has started bleeding a little. She has tiny red spots, it’s pinkish. I don’t know what this could be? I’m really worried since it started bleeding.

Thank you for your question regarding Paisley. Her neck definitely looks irritated. My guess is that she has been itching and the self trauma is causing the bleeding. Skin disease in dogs is frustrating as many causes can present with the same appearance. You can start with bathing her with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as oatmeal based formula. If this does not resolve it, then Sshe he will need to see her veterinarian. I start by ruling out infectious causes such as ringworm, mites or fleas. If this does not yield a diagnosis, then I consider allergic causes. I hope this information helps and I am available for a consultation if you would like to discuss Paisley further. Good luck!
