My 13-pound dog accidentally ate 200mg proxetil. Is it an overdose?

My dog accidently ate proxetil it was about 200 mg and she weighs like 13 pounds will she be ok?

Based on the amount Ginger ate, 200mg is around four times the maximum dose for proxetil. When a dog has an overdose of this drug, it causes vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, and bruising easily. While there have been safety studies showing the drug well-tolerated in dogs given 10 times the maximum dose, every dog does react different and it's best that she is evaluated and treated by a vet right away. I'd recommend taking her into an ER vet now for treatment to be safe. Because I can't see her in person to say for certain she will be ok, I will always recommend immediate treatment in these cases. Oh dear! This is a pretty significant overdose, and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Previcox have a fairly narrow margin of safety in dogs. Overdoses like this can result in severe stomach ulcers, internal bleeding, or even kidney failure. Since she got such a large dose, I would really recommend taking her to the vet right away for treatment. He/she can give her an injection to induce vomiting to help get any remaining pills out of her stomach before they can be absorbed, and may also recommend giving her IV fluids and starting medication to help protect her stomach to try and prevent any problems.

This can result in a serious intoxication with severe, especially gastrointestinal, side effects. In the worst case scenario your lighter dog has ingested a dose quite close to 80mg/kg. I would recommend an immediate check up.

This is a rather big overdose, but this drug is relatively safe to overdose. Signs of an overdose can be vomiting and muscle tremors. If you don't see any of these after eight hours, then she will be fine. If you do see vomiting and tremors, then it's best to take her to the vet for treatment and monitoring. It's most likely that she will be OK. Just check on her every so often and make sure she has plenty of water available. I hope that helps and Abby gets better soon.

Hi there! Since Primo is 84 pounds (about 38 kilograms), 150 mg of Deramaxx would be a dose of about 4 mg/kg. This is within the approved label dosing range for this medication for short-term use, so it's unlikely that you will see any serious side effects related to this - especially since you were able to make him vomit within about an hour, so he probably vomited up at least part of the medication before it was fully absorbed. With any higher-than-normal dose of Deramaxx, it's always possible to see GI issues such as stomach upset or even gastric ulcers - so I would recommend monitoring Primo closely for the next few days to make sure that he's acting normal. If he has repeated episodes of vomiting (more than once or twice), doesn't want to eat, or begins acting lethargic, then I would recommend taking him to the vet right away to be checked out. If he normally takes Deramaxx daily, I would also recommend calling your regular vet in the morning to let them know that this happ

Hi, Gabapentin overdose can cause sedation and drowsiness and its effect should gradually disappear over the next 12 hours. If Bunty is excessively sedated I would ring your closer vets to have her checked over. Hopefully she has not eaten it !

My 5 month old 25lb puppy ate a 50mg proin pill meant for my other dog. Is he gonna die?
Havoc should be absolutely fine after ingesting the Proin tablet! He ingested approximately 4.4 mg/kg (milligrams per kilogram of body weight), and more serious signs of toxicity usually occur with doses over 15 mg/kg. There is a chance that Havoc may experience agitation, vomiting, decreased heart rate or elevated blood pressure. While these signs generally resolve within 24 hours of ingestion, it would be ideal to take Havoc to his vet for an exam and blood pressure measurement. I hope this helps!

My 105lbs dog ate 4 chewable ivermectin/pyrantel heartgard medicine for 51 to100lbs dogs what should I do?
Toxicity can occur if a dog is given an excessive dose of the medication (10 to 20 times the recommended dose). Your dog has consumed roughly four times the recommended dose. If your dog has ivermectin toxicity, you may see any of the following symptoms: Lethargy Depression Drooling Vomiting Dilated pupils Loss of appetite Disorientation Tremors/Seizures Blindness Trouble standing Slow heartbeat Difficulty breathing Coma Ivermectin toxicity cannot be reversed. If the drug was given within the past 4 – 6 hours, your veterinarian may induce vomiting and/or give your dog activated charcoal to help minimize the amount of ivermectin that is absorbed. If it has been less than 2 hours since your pet ingested the foreign material, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than two hours and it will have already moved into the intestines.

10 lb. Dog may have swollowed a 100 mg pill of trazodone
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. If your dog swallowed this amount, that is a very large dose for your dog. Normally we do not exceed 15 mg/kg, and that dose would be almost 23 mg/kg. If your dog ingested this within the last 2 hours, I recommend bringing him/her to your local veterinarian as soon as possible to have them induce vomiting. If it has been longer than that time, and you are unsure if he/she ate the pill, you can monitor for any changes in attitude. That amount of trazodone will likely make your dog very sleepy and sedated, so if you see any of these signs, he/she needs to be seen by a vet right away. I hope this is helpful!

I give my 12 year old Dachshund 25 mg of carprofen on mornings that she has trouble with her back legs. Unbeknownst to me, somebody already gave her 25 MGs of carprofen 4 hours ago and I just gave her another dose of 25. Is there any concern here?
Hi there, and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Fortunately, in my experience, it's very uncommon for a single extra dose of carprofen to cause any significant problems. With NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) overdoses in dogs, the two things we're most concerned about are stomach ulcers and possible kidney damage. These usually occur with doses above 20 mg/kg, which for a 25 pound dog would be about 227 mg. Since Tootsie only got 50 mg total this morning (about 4.4 mg/kg), it's unlikely that you will see any serious issues related to this. To be safe, you should monitor her for the next 24 hours for any signs of a problem, such as vomiting, acting lethargic, or not eating. If you have any concerns, I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic to be seen.

A single dose appropriate for her weight is unlikely to cause any severe effects as long as she has no additional health concerns. Monitor closely for any altered behaviour or other symptoms but these would be unlikely
