Give him some moistened kibble or canned food to push down anything that may be stuck in his throat. Keeping him quiet with minimal excitement will reduce the coughing. There is no safe anti coughing medication that I recommend for dogs. With rest overnight his throat may be soothed and hopefully the cough will resolve. Otherwise take him in on Monday. If he is unable to swallow food then there may be something stuck in his throat and that would be an emergency that needs to be taken care of immediately.
