My new puppy is timid and avoids us. How to help her bond with family?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 15 days old | 15 lbs

We have a new puppy. She's very timid and will not come near any people. She avoids us but likes being around our older dog. How can we entice her to familiarize and warm up to us/our family? She was purchased by AKC approved Breeder and brought home yesterday at 14 weeks.

If you just adopted her yesterday it is still very soon for her to be warmed up to you. It can take a full 2 weeks for dogs to be completely comfortable at a home and with the people that adopted them. I would just give her lots of love and patience. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
