My senior hamster has dry, flaky skin. When should I see a vet?

Hi there, my 2.5 year old syrian hamster has quite flaky skin, like he has dandruff or something. Hes old, but he weighs a good 142 grams like he has done for years now, and hes active at night. Should i take him to the vet because of this? Its doesnt look too red or irritated, just dry. Thanks! Pet's info: Exotic | Unknown - Exotic | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old
