My cat is vomiting, hiding, and has yellow soft poop. Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 12 years and 10 months old | 15 lbs

My cat pooped outside the litter box this morning and it was yellow and soft looking, after I found he had also thrown up. And when i went to look for him he was hiding under a coffee table. Should I take him to the vet or wait it out and see if it was just something he got into?

I'm sorry to hear that Einstein isn't feeling well this morning. If he continues to hide for more than another hour or two or if he has more vomiting or diarrhea, he will need to be seen by his veterinarian. Being a bit of an older cat, you will want to sure he doesn't have any underlying disease that is causing his signs. Vomiting and diarrhea can be the result of a simple GI upset or it can indicate pancreatitis, thyroid disease, kidney disease or more chronic intestinal problems. I hope this information helps. Good luck to you and Einstein!
