My dog coughs and vomits white/brown fluid in morning but acts normal.

Question

My dog has been waking up each morning and coughing and she repeatedly throws up white mucus. Yesterday it progressed and she threw up a dark brown substance. It is only in the morning. I would have already taken her to the vet, but she is eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom normally. Her demeanor also has not changed. She is still hyper and playful. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 35 lbs

Thank you for your question regarding Mia! Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if a dog is coughing and gagging up fluid verses truly vomiting. The coughing you mentioned and white material could be a sign of an upper respiratory infection. The brown material sounds more like vomit though. I'm glad she is still acting normal.
