Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Female | unspayed | 11 lbs
For two days my mini schnauzer has been excessively drooling. It has seemed to have slowed today to only being as prevalent when laying down. I cleaned the water bowl yesterday and I'm wondering if I hadn't rinsed all of the soap out of it all the way. Could that be the cause? She's behaving normally as well as my other mini who isn't drooling at all.

Excessive drooling can happen if something is irritating the mouth. This could be a soap, but would have to be fairly concentrated to cause a great deal of drooling. House plants are another common irritant that will cause a dog to drool if they chew on them. The other possibility is that she has a sore in her mouth or bad dental disease. It would be best to have a good look in her mouth to check for any problems. If you are unable to find the cause of this, then it would be best to have a vet check her in the next day or two. If you have further questions or need further clarification, then you may consider having an online consult with one of our vets on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This way, you can send unlimited pictures and have a text conversation with a vet. I hope that helps and Emma gets better soon.
