How to prevent your cat from getting lost when moving to a new home?

What should I do. I'm moving and I'm concerned that my cat will get lost.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. If Mr. Sassy is not microchipped, I would recommend having this done. You can find all sorts of GPS tracking collars as well for cats. Findster and TabCat are two examples of GPS collars that I have seen. Once you have moved and are in your new place, it will take some time for your cat to get used to the new surroundings. I would recommend keeping him indoors for at least 6-8 weeks before letting him outside. You might even consider walking him on a leash around the property so that he is used to the outside.
