Dog has dry, red skin on elbows/paws. Is Sudocrem the right fix?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Heard about the similar Alabama rot disease. Vets told us my dog might have kidney problems but notices dry skin on elbow and paws which is normally red i have been putting sudocrem on it

Sudocream generally does not help with any skin condition in dogs, Alabama rot is getting more common in the UK but it is still not very common, kidney disease starts after the skin lesions appears and it all happens in a matter of a couple weeks. it doesn't sound like this is the case with your dog, i would believe the skin issue is unrelated to the kidney disease in this case and probably needs to be treated separately by your vet.
