My cat ate another cat's vomit, possibly plastic. Is she okay?

Hi there ! My kitty came back from the vet hungry and stressed and while I went to get her food she opened a bag with my other cats vomit in it and are about Half of it . The vomit was from 3 hours earlier. I don't know if she ingested any of the plastic bag it looks like it was scratched open . It's possible she may have ingested some tissue that was in there . Should I be concerned ? Thank you

Oh no it's not good that Kitty ate that vomit! At most, I would expect that eating this vomit could cause some GI upset, causing her to vomit and/or have diarrhea. It's good that it doesn't look like she has eaten the plastic bag, and if she ate the bag, I would be concerned that the bag could cause a foreign body obstruction. Keep an eye on her for now, and if you see any vomiting or diarrhea, I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feeding a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If she stops eating or continues to vomit, there is cause for concern. Ideally, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Abdominal x-rays can be done to make sure no other foreign bodies remain in her stomach and that she isn't obstructed. If this is not possible, consider a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. If she still vomits after this, a veterinary visit is strongly recommended.

I am not quite sure what she may have thrown up in the picture. It looks like it could be rice or even intestinal parasites. Since she is still vomiting parts of the plastic bag, I would be concerned that there may have been something missed during surgery. If she shredded the bag, there could be tiny pieces in her stomach and/or small intestines that would never be felt when look at these organs during exploratory surgery. She may need additional treatment to help these pass, including IV fluids, anti-nausea medications, enemas, or medications to help stimulate her intestines to move.

My cat has puked twice this morning, the first was normal and looked like he’d eaten plastic, but the second was bright red. He isn’t acting weird at all.
It is possible that the plastic (or whatever was in his stomach that he vomited up) irritated his stomach to cause some bleeding. As long as he does not continue to vomit and he is active and acting normally, withhold food for 12 hours, and offer small amounts of water frequently. Feed about 1/2 of his normal amount of food this evening. Don't give him any over the counter medications. If he continues to vomit or if he he becomes lethargic or seems painful, please take him to your vet this weekend. My biggest concern here is that he may have more foreign material (plastic, etc) in his stomach, which is why its important to go to the vet if the symptoms continue. If you do need to take him in, your vet will probably recommend taking an Xray. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!

My kitten threw up! This is not the first time she threw up and it looks like this. She is 8/9 months old! Last time she threw up was probably 2 weeks ago.
Poor Masha. That might be a worm or a piece of plastic she ate. Make sure she is up to date on her deworming treatments, and I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. My cat has got a habit that she eats small plastic and rubber toys and then she vomits. What should I do?
What a cute cat ! The only way to make sure she does not eat these things is to remove these things from the house or keep them put away so she cannot get to them. If she continues eating this type of material, she may have serious GI issues or a blockage.

Poor Kitty Kat sounds ill! It could be that he is suffering from a GI illness, foreign body, pancreatitis, or eating something rotten causing his symptoms. If he's been vomiting for less than 24 hours, I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. Cat only wants to eat plastic not eating food or drinking water. He also spits up. He is extra cuddly not normal for him. He sleeps with me much also not normal. He cries more than normal.
I would recommend that Penuckle see a vet as soon as possible. Many cats are obsessive about eating non-food items, like plastic. This is called pica. They are at an increased risk of developing an intestinal obstruction, which can cause them to stop eating and drinking and to vomit. My cat vomited a piece of kitchen towel, she might fulled out from the trashcan and swallow. I feed her small amount of canned food she seems eating okay... she ate all, but i worry about her digest. Thank you
I'm glad to hear that she vomited the towel up! My concern is that there is other towel material or other foreign material that she ingested in the trash can. I'm glad that she seems to be eating normally now, but if she vomits or refuses her food at any point, take her to the vet. They will be able to perform an exam and abdominal x-rays to try to rule out the presence of more foreign material causing an obstruction in her stomach and/or intestines.

My cat ate part of a plastic garbage bag. What should I do?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! If this just happened within the last 2 hours, you could consider taking him to a veterinarian to try to induce vomiting to retrieve this piece of plastic. Otherwise, watch him closely for signs of a gastrointestinal obstruction such as inappetence, vomiting and/or abdominal pain. As long as she is comfortable and has no pain or discomfort eating or breathing I would watch and wait, monitoring closely for any signs or symptoms of GI upset or obstruction. Most small pieces of soft plastic will be vomited or passed uneentfully; small frequent meals can encourage bowel movement and the addition of some laxative hairball paste may help also
