My 9-month-old puppy paces when told to stay off the couch. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 9 months and 19 days old | 15 lbs

I've noticed my pup (9mos) pacing. We've had her for 2 weeks and showered her with love, including being let up on the couch with cuddles. Yesterday, we stopped letting her up on the couch whenever she wanted because she gets right under our butts when we're about to sit! She doesn't get on the couch as much anymore, but when we're sitting and we tell her to stay off, she begins to pace. Should I be worried?

Congratulations on your new addition. The pacing your are describing sounds like Coco just doesn't know where to go or what to do when you don't let her jump on the couch with you. Anytime we tell a dog what not to do, we also need to tell them what to do. So, I would teach Coco a command like "Go to your bed." and direct her to a dog bed next to the couch. Be sure to reward that behavior with verbal praise and/or treats to make sure she is motivated to do so. Good luck! I hope that was helpful.
