Are there side effects when combining Nexgard and Sentinel for dogs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 96 lbs

I have a one year old golden Pyrenees, my vet suggested putting him on Nexguard & Sentinel monthly. I have read differing opinions, do you know of any dangers with combining the two products?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I prescribe Nexgard and Sentinel together multiple times per day. I haven’t heard of any reactions. Just like people some dogs can react to certain medications. If you google any medication for human or animals you will find stories of adverse reactions. No drug doesn’t come without side effects. To be safe give the drugs 2 days apart the first time you give them. I have some clients that give one the 1st of the month and the other mid month. Personally I haven’t heard of any reactions going the 2 together. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!
