Why does my dog stare and slowly back away? Is this normal behavior?

My 2 year old Australian cattle dog will stare and back away slowly. She does this everyday. Is this normal? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years old | 40.2 lbs
