Cat kidney failure: Can my cat recover after delayed treatment?

My cat was just diagnosed with acute renal failure. He is 8 months old. Symptoms have been going on for 7 days. However, treatment was just started yesterday because the vet suspected a stomach bug when the symptoms started. I’m just wondering if 6 days without treatment is to long to expect a recovery? Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 8 months and 12 days old | 12 lbs

It really depends on the cause of the renal failure and the damage done. It's definitely possible that he can recover after not being treated for this long, but I'm afraid I can't be more specific than that with fully knowing his case.
