My pitbull has a soft indent on her head. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 1 month old | 70 lbs

I've noticed a small indent towards the back of my pitbulls head and I dont know what it is or how it could have gotten there. when i press on it while shes looking down my finger sinks in like half a centimeter but when i touch it whens shes looking up i feel the bone there. I havent seen any change in her attitude which is usually very playful. But it worries me because I don't know if it could potentially lead to something serious.

It's really difficult to say what this is without seeing her and being able to evaluate her. It may be a normal structure, or something else like a defect, or cyst. I would need to have more information and see it to be able to have a good idea what you are talking about. If she if otherwise normal, then I would not worry too much about it, but it would be good to have a vet check it out sometime if you are concerned. Alternatively, you may consider having an online consult with one of our vets on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This way, you can send unlimited pictures and have a text conversation with a vet. I hope that helps and all is well with Maggy.
