My dog's chest has blackheads and smells greasy. How can I fix it?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 2 months old | 20 lbs

I have a italian greyhound/chi mix that has horrible blackheads all over her chest and belly. It also smells greasy alot. I have bathed her with special shampoo but the problem exists. What can I do?

Comedones, or blackheads, are common in certain breeds. Usually, minor cases can be treated topically at home using a shampoo containing benzoyl peroxide. Cleansing the area daily with witch hazel can help as well. If they persist or worsen, you may need to have Sandy examined by her veterinarian to diagnose bacterial infection, endocrine imbalances or other medical conditions that may be predisposing her to developing blackheads.
