Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 5 lbs
Which medicine would you prefer giving to a 3 1/2 lb Yorkie, Robitussin or a homeopathic cough and cold medication and what dosage would you recommend? I know Robitussin is safe, so my question is. Is homeopathic medicines good for a dog?

Hello. Homeopathic medications are basically useless for most conditions. There is no regulation or oversight in their preparation, so you take a chance every time you use one. The only way to ensure you are getting a relatively safe & effective product is to work closely with a Veterinarian who has been trained in eastern medication, & only after your pet has been thoroughly evaluated for medical issues. Why is your pet coughing? Is it due to heartworm disease, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, tracheal disease, or chronic bronchitis? Once these conditions are discussed & diagnosed, then the right medications can be recommended. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
