My pregnant dog is panting, has eye goop, and a low temperature.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Vizsla | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 2 months old | 40 lbs

My dog was in heat in Jan. & watched very closely. She got loose Jan. 18th & ran the neighborhood. I was concerned but pretty sure she was done being in heat as it had almost been a month+. Since that date she has shown signs of being pregnant. (Weight gain/milk) The last 24 hours she’s been panting deep like her stomach is sinking in. Her rectal tempature is 99.9. Her appetite is normal but she can’t rest from her stomach descending. Her nose starts running & has eye goop.

Jan 18th is about 50 days from today, it is way too early for her to give birth, she has at least a good week to go. just monitor her for now but there is nothing special you need to do, feed her well with puppy food 3 times a day and make sure she is comfortable.
