My dog is lethargic and won't eat. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 34 lbs

My dog is only pooping 2-4 times a day, has loss of appetite and seems lethargic. She has worms last month but was treated and is now on prevention medication. Should I be worried and get her to the vet or give her constipation medication?

1-3 defecations a day is normal for dogs, even up to 4. Anything over 4 bowel movements a day is concerning. I do worry about the decreased appetite and energy level however. If this continues then I would encourage you to have Sable evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
