Can my puppy be around other dogs after her first round of shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 1 day old | 4 lbs

My puppy got her first round of shots, 2 weeks ago, the Canine 5-in-1 (DA2HPPv) and the Heartgard Plus Blue. She isn't due for her second round for another 2 weeks, so we were wondering if it is okay for her to be dogsat by family, who also has a dog? The question here is, is she okay to be around another dog right now?

Luna is such a cutie! If the other dog is current on vaccines and parasite control (such has heartworm prevention as it typically also cover intestinal parasites), then it should be fine for her to stay. I would have you, and the dog sitting family, avoid scenarios with her that involve lots of other dogs (dog parks, etc). These are high risk envirnments for puppies that are not fully vaccinated yet. As for the dog sitting family, it would be good for her to be socialized with another dog. I would just recommend introducing them slowly and on neutral territory. If they get along, she will likely have a lot of fun while you are gone!
