My dog has a bump on his penis near the urethra. Is Neosporin safe?

There is a bump on my dogs penis near the urethra, instinctively I put neosporin on it do I need to be concerned?

Yes it is likely to be a bacterial follicolitis, which can be treated by applying a topical antibiotic ointment. If no results in the next 4 days are seen, a veterinary check up is required.
