My dog vomited red with bones. Is it safe to wait for the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 6 months old | 30 lbs

My dog has vomited red. In his vomit, I can see potato chunks and chicken bones apart from reddish fluid. What to do about this? I am unable to go to my vet right away, but have fixed an appointment for tomorrow.

Did he eat anything red in colors? Treats? If he did it may be from that. If he is acting fine and not lethargic, eating well, no bloody diarrhea, no more vomiting then I would say you can wait until tomorrow. If he becomes lethargic, not eating, vomiting continues diarrhea then I would recommend bringing him to a veterinarian sooner. I hope Otis feels better soon.
